Since ancient times, the life of a hermit has been intertwined with the countryside and the mountains. The essence of retreat lies in the reshaping of the relationship between oneself and the material world. It’s about discarding the endless craving for material gain and, instead, turning inwards to seek tranquility and peace within.

A shabby house

Endless View, Kibbutz Gonen, Israel | Inon Ben-David
The views of the Golan Heights, Hula Valley and Naftali Mountains visible from the boundaries of the plot they purchased in the expansion of Kibbutz Gonen, led the couple to commission a particularly successful project - the creation of a minimalist house with large openings, optimally expressing the pristine natural surroundings. Together with architect Inon Ben-David, they created a home that precisely meets their current and future needs, one that enjoys fantastic, endless 360° views. This is how it looks from the outside and within.Welcome to the new home of a couple in their 30s and their two young children, located at the edge of the expansion of Kibbutz Gonen, thus enjoying a breathtaking view of the valley and mountains. The couple, who chose to leave the center for the tranquility and quality of life that only the North can provide, turned to designer Inon Ben-David, who draws inspiration from the landscapes of his childhood in the Golan Heights - the wild nature, massive rock ...
Hale Kiawe | 2021 | Walker Warner Architects
After years of enjoying family vacations in Hawaii, this couple, now empty nesters, decided to make one of their favorite places their permanent home. As minimalists, they sought a warm, welcoming, and soulful retreat that embodied restraint. To create such a place, while also honoring their Indian heritage, they sought to incorporate the principles of Vastu Shastra—an ancient Indian architectural system based on harnessing the energies and elements of nature.
The site began as a barren tract of land, save for the underpinnings of a discarded building and a scattering of kiawe trees where groves once flourished. The design team discovered that lava had formerly flowed through the site, following its natural path from mauka (mountain) to makai (ocean), so it was critical that this history be echoed through the built form.
Instead of orienting the home toward the west, it faces east, contrary to the design team’s initial inclination based on the site's position and its elements. This de ...
Vesper Tverskaya, Moscow, Russia | Babayants Architects
Babayants Architects: Vesper Tverskaya is a club house with apartments that are finished. The builder has done the engineering, finished the walls, floor and ceilings, and the kitchen and bathrooms are completely finished. We were invited to finish the interior: to assemble the concept, adding furniture, fixtures and fittings, closets, art.
The house is located on Tverskaya, and has been designed by Speech, in the spirit of the elegant historic buildings, of which it continues.
For the first time we have created a concept of space as an emotion. We have carefully selected each item. But this time pieces of furniture and decoration have become our only tools to create a special and expressive atmosphere for our clients.
The study of glass, its aesthetics and possibilities continues to interest us. Here glass is tested by the great weight of marble in Mathieu Lehanneur's objects. And in the bedroom it reveals itself in a new way with a gradient of color by the designer Germans Ermics.

Nubank Spark Offices | 2023 | MM18 Arquitetura
With approximately 10,000m² and a triple ceiling height of 15 m, the new headquarters of Nubank was designed in one of the ships of one of the old warehouses of the Votorantim group, in Vila Leopoldina, now retrofitted by the MM18 Architecture office, led by architects Marcos Caldeira and Mila Strauss. The Nubank-Spark project, as it was named, was designed based on the horizontality of the complex and its industrial structure, as well as aiming to reconcile Nubank's commitment to integrating with local architecture and integrating the team into its culture.
The result is the materialization of a dynamic and integrated work environment, which aligns smoothly with the characteristics of the neighborhood, considering the master plan and business perspectives of Vila Leopoldina, which is gradually becoming a technological hub due to its proximity to universities and creative agencies in the region.
For the implementation of the program requirements, the office delved into the company's cu ...
